DEAD open the evening
Born out of Southampton and playing at the Garage in Islington as opening support for Attack! Attack! at their last ever London show, DEAD consists of five teenage lads, all ready to perform their hardest.
As they opened the set, the lads took to wearing blind-folds for some unknown reason. This was a little odd but the crowd went with it and the band came out the other side of the song sweaty and raring to go. Energy was the main element of this set and the band had a tonne load of it, spilling over from the edges and being soaked up by the crowd. No matter the song they were performing, the crowd was lapping up the enthusiasm of the band, heads bashing forward and back for the teens in the front row for each and every song. One of the most memorable was Beautiful Broken Bones, the chorus sticking in your head throughout the set.
The band combines elements of pop rock and some harder tones at times, signing the lyrics and also the occasional scream thrown in for good measure. The two backing vocals of the guitarists added some depth to the songs. Even with a few issues on their side, such as an incomplete drum set for the performance, DEAD was able to provide the crowd with the perfect opportunity to get warmed up for the night ahead.
