Energy, Drive and Anger
Black Dogs are making strides in all the right directions at the moment, and on the evidence of tonight's performance you can see exactly why. The four angriest men Grimsby has ever spat out had a slow start, but as the set ploughed on it just got better and better. As far as riling up the crowd, Black Dogs were a great little taster to the carnage that was set to take place later in the night with Hatebreed. They certainly got the pit going quick enough, with the front man throwing his shirt in for everyone to fight over. A nice gesture, not sure how cherished that sweaty t-shirt will be for whoever won it now though....
The front man though deserves another mention because he by far and away stole the show. It's his energy, drive and anger which allows their music and live performances to flourish. This is a hardcore band in its fervent youth and with shows at big festivals in the near future their profile will only grow larger. For a band so young as well it was great to see them care so much for the scene they are a part of, using every opportunity to plug the other bands on the bill and elsewhere as well as their label. One thing is for sure; they would have sold a good few t-shirts and won over a lot of new fans tonight.
