Bowling For Soup Farewell Tour

The weather may be miserable outside, but the atmosphere inside the main hall of Nottingham's Rock City is enough to banish anyone's winter blues. With a 2000 strong crowd, one of the most amusing bands Bowling for Soup bid us a final goodbye with their UK Farewell Tour.

Taking to the stage to rapturous applause, BFS enter to what can only be described as their theme tune "Here Comes Bowling for Soup". Beginning their hilarious 2 hour journey through their almost 20 year history with several tracks from new album Lunch.Drunk.Love and resulting in the crowd bouncing in unison and singing along at the top of their lungs.

Complete with witty banter, dick and fart jokes and talk of sweaty balls, this was the perfect farewell party for the band. Once the onstage "Pub" had opened for "Let's Go to The Pub" and "Hooray for Beer" (complete with support band Patent Pending serving up allsorts of alcoholic concoctions) the crowd had really warmed up. Jaret & Erik owned the stage and looked perfectly at home posing on their platforms worshipped by the fans below them. Backed by Gary on drums and Chris on bass, BFS are so tight and clearly still love what they do.

Bowling for Soup had promised something special for this 14 date UK tour and I don't think their fans, young or old, could have asked for more! With four CO2 canons at the front of the stage, amazing lighting, and incredible energy from every single person in the room, Rock City was bursting at the seams.

Despite the length of the set, time passed by in a blur of laughs, jumping around and banter with the crowd. Performing their unforgettable cover of Fountains of Wayne's Stacey's Mum as well as Britney Spears' Baby One More Time during the Encore plus an impressive 29 other tracks including Turbulence, 1985 and my personal favourite The Bitch Song.

No one could have asked for more from Bowling for Soup and although this was billed as a farewell tour, Jaret did admit that farewell doesn't necessarily mean goodbye. We're going to miss you BFS so don't stay away too long but what a high to leave us on!
