Sylosis at Glasgow Garage

Sylosis have proven themselves to be a top Metal band in recent years, a band who many feel are still quite underrated. Tonight at the Garage venue on Glasgow's iconic Sauchiehall street, they are supporting DevilDriver. To carry that off and make an impression is a big ask for any band, and tonight Sylosis are without their drummer Rob Callard. Bleed from Within's Ali Richardson does a fantastic job of filling the drum stool tonight, and as Josh Middleton, vocals and lead guitar, says from the stage, "there would be no gig tonight" without him.

Sylosis hit the stage with Fear the World from the most recent album Monolith, and it's an awesome sound they create. The combination of thrash, melody, and the deathly screams that emanate from Josh's vocals hit hard in the live arena. At the beginning of Conclusion Of An Age, Josh asks the Garage audience "Let me see those fists in the air" and the audience duly fills the place with fists and devil horns held aloft. Its another great song, performed with power and commitment, and some brilliant melodic guitar phrases and soloing.

As they conclude the set, locking into yet another awesome thrash groove, and another brilliantly melodic solo from Josh, the fists and devil horns are again raised spontaneously in the air. Sylosis against the odds have really held the audience tonight in Glasgow. If you get a chance in the future do go and see Sylosis, they are a creative and full on metal band, and play a live set without any let up.
