Rise Against - The Black Market World Tour
Chicago punks Rise Against are currently on travelling around the world on an epic tour to support their latest album The Black Market; Room Thirteen were lucky enough to catch their sold-out show at Brixton Academy.
Brixton Academy was full to the brim of adoring fans just yearning to see their heroes live in action, and with the crowd fabulously warmed up by Swimmers and Pennywise, it was no surprise that deafening screams erupted as members of Rise Against filtered onto the stage.
As well as the standard backdrop, the Rise Against stage also featured giant LED letters that spelt 'RISE' which changed colour throughout the band's set to suit the mood and the lighting. Some people will frown at the idea of a light show at a punk gig but it worked well with Rise Against's sound and vibe.
The band had endless amounts of energy and barely kept still for a second; playing this show as if it was their last, nailing every beat, note and key. Pretty much every song was met with the crowd lovingly singing along with them, the front half of the crowd were just as lively as the band, through the entirety of the set circle pits were formed despite the barriers that are in place towards the front third of the venue.
Rise Against played a fab selection of songs that perfectly showed why they have had such a long career and have such a loyal following. Despite their successes, you could hear song after song that Rise Against have stayed true to who they are and what their message is.
Highlight's of the Rise Against's set included Prayer Of The Refugee, Help Is On The Way and Survive.
As expected, Rise Against put on a killer show and faultless performance; it was the kind of show that made braving the cold, wind and rain well worth it.
