Schpleen at Silkfest
Schpleen were another of the many bands who orientated their sound around Ska Punk and mixed it with some other alternative genre. This time Schpleen were taking Ska and throwing in some skate punk for good measure. I found that their Ska was quite repetitive but their skate punk parts quite virtuous, almost to the standards of Phinius Gage. Unfortunately their sound tended to keep away from those precious moments of aggressive fast punk and I was left waiting for a song without any of the Ska but was sadly disappointed. Regardless to this, the audience were lapping up all the songs with a small pit brewing towards the end of the set. My personal favourite was a song called 'The Black Is Here' or something with a similar title. The band pulled off some great harmonies in the vocals and some superior drumming. Overall a great band who play the wrong Genre.
