Burn, pillage etc etc

Ladies and gentlemen, this is metal, this is Viking Skull! They both look and sound 'old school' but hey, it's good! Classic metal vocals are matched with high tempo chugging metal riffs during a set of simple song structures that coupled with loud guitars and pulsing drums make the whole package very effective.

It really should come as no surprise that someone in the crowd is wearing a viking helmet, it's all part of the fun. Front man Roddy Stone takes every opportunity to get the crowd going, although there is a slight overuse of the phrase "C'mon Motherfuckers!". They don't let him down, the tent is by no means packed, but those that are here do themselves proud. The fact they're heavier and have a different slant to most of the previous bands all seems to appeal to the crowd. The last song is definitely the highlight and rounds off a solid set.

There's no doubt that Viking Skull are a good band but they're never likely to generate the same excitement as Trivium as their sound is just too rooted in what's gone before. Occasionally they sound like a pastiche of themselves! Take Viking Skull for what they are and you'll enjoy the experience. You might not find too much if you delve deeper but if you're after hard and heavy good old metal then look no further.
