Euros should be in your pocket.

With the Welsh mafia looking out for each other, it was no surprise to see Euros Childs on the same bill as Gruff Rhys on the Triptych line-up.

Not only does Welshness connect the two but stepping from the confines of a popular band means the two can be linked also. More importantly, a shared love of melodies is evidently on show and it makes no difference if Childs sings in English or Welsh.

His on-stage chat is pretty engaging as well. A tale of how £2,500 was well spent on choreography proved to be a joke as Childs added some basic hand shapes to his singing. One of the best lines to have came from Childs 'Chops' record is where he informs the listener that "ice cream sells when it's hot but it don't sell so well when it's not"; an absolute stand-out and the crowd seemed to be pretty relaxed and enjoying the show.

'Henry a Matilda Supermarketsuper' from his latest album 'Bore Da' was another standout, its whimsical keyboard runs, bordering on cheesy but always fun and a chorus that couldn't help bring to mind the Furries 'Hermann Loves Pauline.' When those Welshies get a good idea they sure know how to make the most of it!

With two solo albums under his belt, Euros Childs has got the songs to match his talent and ability. With a backing band who supported strongly without ever stealing the limelight, the set was a joyous occasion for all concerned.
