Not just about the music

"I can't understand why they've put him on such a small stage" was the comment from a girl stood, or rather wedged, behind me as a crowd much too big for the small Virgin Mobile Sessions Tent tried to squeeze themselves in to see British music's latest flavour of the month acoustic singer songwriter type.

Full name Sam Newton Battenberg Faulkner, he already has a top ten single and album to his name, and could easily have drawn a healthy number to any of the larger stages as there were many left disappointed they couldn't get the full experience due to his recent rise to stardom.

'Dream Catch Me' was the one most had come for, but his cover of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' is also well worth further attention.

There was a lot of crowd interaction, gaining him one of the most fanatical followings of the weekend. 'Dream Catch Me' has clearly touched a lot of people; it's difficult to say from the strength of this one relatively short performance if Faulkner will head on the same road to success as Paolo Nutini, a man who he toured with in April. He's certainly one to keep an eye on in order to see how long the momentum driving him can continue.
