Light teh taper and stand well back
Ghost of a Thousand have come a long way in the last couple of years and this is demonstrated by their status here as second only to headliners Fightstar in the Rock Sound Tent.
They suffer a little from the same sound problems everyone else is having in here this weekend and early on Tom’s vocals are way too quiet and the overall sound is a touch low, which means they don’t quite have the explosive impact that they usually do. The good sized crowd are also a little slow to get going tonight but when they eventually do they do it in style with a frenzied circle pit resulting in a sudden influx of security and concern from the band.
They play the usual mix of songs from the album (& they still sound great) alongside some new material, which sounds good but if anything is a little more mainstream in structure but no less energetic or passionate. Guitarists Jag, Andy and bassist Gez fly around the stage in time honoured tradition and you certainly can’t fault the visual performance. Their set seems to fly by and it’s left for Tom to put the finishing touches to it as he jumps into the crowd for the last song, resulting in near mayhem and lots of angry glances from the thwarted security, much to everyone’s amusement. Excellent as always, Ghost of a Thousand continue to tear it up wherever they land and it’s great to watch.
