Stereophonics
With a fantastic mix of old and new songs and a new bobbed haircut, the ‘Phonics entertained with fantastic audience response. Their hour and a half set concluded the first night on a high note, with Kelly’s gravelly voice being just as attention-grabbing as ever. With no need for sampling like other acts who had to rely on it to sound mildly impressive, Stereophonics’ live and real music sounded just as good as the CD’s, with an added hint of that extra something. No backing singers however left the sound occasionally a little emptier than we are used to hearing the songs.
One song was dedicated to Ray Charles, the blues singer who had died earlier that day, which made a touching performance from the group, especially as the crowd joined in. A fantastic start to the weekend, giving high expectations for the following nights. 5 out of 5.
