Die So Fluid - The Fleece, Bristol

On this particular Tuesday, London based hard rock act Die So Fluid took to the stage in front a small but happy crowd of 50 or so people at Bristol’s Fleece venue. A varied mix of people from young girls dressed as fuzzy pandas/skeletons, to assorted metallers, to hells angels, to a mature goth who had come down from Sheffield just for the gig.

After a very good set by Lichtenstein band ‘Black Sonic’ who took us through a medley of metal before finishing with a heavy cover of Duran Duran’s 'Ordinary World', lead singer Grog took the stage dressed in her black leather cat suit, studded belt and matching guitar strap. They sounded bigger than a 3 piece group, with powerful, heavy riffs to match her voice; powerful but precise, putting so much passion into her singing. Despite complaining at the mic levels a couple of times, they sounded good and the audience seemed to agree. She loves her job and it shows all over her face when she sings.

Halfway through she stopped to admire the top hat on someone in the crowd, then wore it, proclaiming herself the spirit of Jazz, but asking people to refrain from setting her on fire (for those people I’ve lost here, please go watch the Mighty Boosh - you won't regret it).

Anyway, despite the small crowd, Die So Fluid thoroughly entertained us all with some great music - a style of punky hard rock that really works well.
