Taking Dawn prove that 11:00am is never too early to rock

Having recently finished a string of UK performances supporting KISS on their Sonic Boom Over Europe tour, the Nevada-based band open up the main stage on the second day of Download 2010. Many hungover fans may have dragged themselves to the arena to see Taking Dawn begin their 11:00am set, but the band are ready and raring to go as always.

Although it probably doesn't compare much to the extreme scaffolding-climbing attempt of Airbourne’s Joel O’Keeffe the following night, the three guitar-wielding members of Taking Dawn enjoyed the freedom of a large stage by running backwards and forwards for the entire duration of their set. Whilst most people are still yet to fully discover Taking Dawn, no one can fault their desire to give 100% to what is one of their biggest performances to date.

Even for fans new to the music of Taking Dawn, they easily pick up the chorus of recent single ‘Time to Burn’, screaming “Halle-F*CKING-lujah!” in time with the band. The live sound could have been better, but the band definitely cannot be blamed for this. Taking Dawn seem to be inexhaustible, especially frontman Chris Babbitt who continued his habit of visiting the crowd whilst performing, even riskily taking his guitar with him!
