Acoda

Proving themselves to be a rather exciting prospect with killer tunes like 'Paint By Numbers', Midlands-based post-hardcore mob Acoda close the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage in style on the Saturday night of Hevy Fest. Although, as faced by many bands across the weekend, sound difficulties are a slight problem, the band's intriguing blend of brutality and layered melody keeps the eyes of those waiting for The Dillinger Escape Plan fixed firmly upon them.

Vocalist/guitarist Damon Tang has a real grasp on the scream/sing dynamic and his spacious vocal overlaps with bassist Stephen Crook and guitarist Shaun Flynn adding a unique extra dimension to their sound. Other enveloping numbers such as 'Finding Your Feet' hit hard and, with the band having placed in the final three of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam challenge, give good ground for them to go on to bigger and better things in the not too distant future. The quartet impress with conviction.

With a newly recorded debut album hopefully coming before the end of the year, this lot are certainly worth keeping an eye on.
