People on Vacation hit a ride to the UK with Patent Pending
The relationship between Bowling for Soup and Patent Pending has always been a close one so when Patent Pending set out on tour in the UK, who better to take along for the ride than Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup and his new outlet for music People of Vacation.
People on Vacation began when Ryan Hamilton of Smile Smile toured with Bowling for Soup and Jaret and Ryan began writing together. If this show at The Garage in Islington was anything to go by, the result of these two getting together in the studio was magical.
As the set kicked off with Punk Rock World, it seemed odd that such a calm tune was chosen to open the set, however it soon became perfectly fitting as the crowd began to feel the buzz emerging and taking over the rest of the evenings set. Back to Being Friends followed suit pretty well with the crowd waving their arms back and forth with enjoyment. We Are the Lucky Ones and I Get Youhad the crowd screaming to their vocal limit. As they performed Lonely Fish, the harmonies really began to shine and the vocals spread between Jaret and Ryan blended together even more.
Of course no set would be complete without a Bowling for Soup cover thrown in for good measure and this set was no exception. The chosen song was The Bitch Song and the guys were joined on stage by Joe Ragosta of Patent Pending to make things even more exceptional. The guys followed this with performance of You May Not Believe In God , Prettiest Girl in the World, Where Do We Go and Because of the Sun.
The presence of the acoustic guitar on stage made the music that much more enjoyable and easy to move along with. It seemed that each song had a story to tell as they were performed. The way the lyrics are written are honest, simple and at times have a comical aspect which makes them even more enjoyable. Each track in this performance was able to get the crowd singing along, waving and clapping and showing a real appreciation for the joining together of two great minds from Jaret and Ryan. If this performance was anything to go by, People on Vacation has just started on a road that will take them far.
