Nine Black Alps-Shot Down

With an intro sounding not un-like Coldplay's "Politik", I'm sure I can be forgiven for being surprised at the punk toned verses and garage rock choruses that were to follow. This is the second single to be taken from this highly acclaimed Manchester 4 piece's forth-coming debut album, and these guys have already been touted as being set to stomp over the likes of "Razorlight" and "The Libertines". Now that, as I'm sure you are aware, is no dim feat.

Now you'd think these guys would live up to the hype considering where they come from. Manchester is being anxiously tipped as becoming the next London as far as happening music scenes go. And "The Black Alps" are one of the many bands hopping on that bandwagon, including steady climbers "The Virgin Loves" and the NME loving "Agent Blue".

So do they? They sure do. This track isn't as groundbreaking that it'll give you tingles up your spine and goose bumps on you neck, but with it's strong chords, enduringly catchy verses, perfectly timed under-stated guitar solos; not to mention the urgency of the thrashing drums, it sure would be an alarm call you wouldn’t be eager to ignore.

A great number that has no reason not to propel these guys into the main-fold of the insurgence of the Northern invasion.
