Hot Snakes - Peel Sessions
Braintrust will be the second single of this band's last opus, 'Audit in Progress' coming straight from San Diego. On this EP you will find two tracks from their third album, 'Braintrust' and 'This Mystic Decade' as well as two songs from their first album, 'No Hands' and 'Automatic Midnight'.
Their sound is a proper punk sound, the first notes you hear and you immediately feel that there is something from the Sex Pistols. But it soon disappears as you continue to listen to the tracks. There is no evolution in their sound, nothing really original. So unless you are a proper punk addict there is nothing really much to expect from this EP.
It sounds like it is made in memory of John Peel who died on the 18th November 2004 after broadcasting those four tracks.
If you know the band and love what they do then you will surely enjoy the CD. Otherwise, just go and buy their first album as there is not a lot of changes in their music.
