'Catastrophe' is the right word

Opener 'The Downside Of Perfect' is fine, it's got everything a basic song of this sound needs- the fast drums and heavy bass lines with fret work to match soaring vocals. And it goes on for far too long.

Moving on to 'As The Earth Exhales' there's no difference to 'The Downside Of Perfect' at all, other than perhaps the words. 'Vinegar Hill' is a slower and darker number, but with an intro that drags it's possible you'll have fallen asleep before the vocals break out. But when they do it brings the song out very nicely.

And what to say about 'The Art Of Suggestion'?; let's put it this way... it should be called 'The Art Of Repetition'. Much like 'Vinegar Hill', 'The Cruel Myth Of Collective Memory' is a moody number, and although it follows somewhat in its footsteps it shows off the bands skill well and is perhaps the best number on the album.

'Enough With This Soiree'- well you have to hand it to The Attika State when it comes to inventive song titles. If only the creativity that went into the titles was forced into the actual songs themselves, then they'd be well on the road to success.

The Attika State aren't doing anything new, or particularly inventive with their sound. If anything 'Genesis And Catastrophe' is a great album if you just want to jump around too, but if it's something more than a not particularly brilliant thrill you're after, then this album is not the one for you.
