On a slippery slope
The title track from the second single from the West London based band Paper Cuts, is literally embodied in their music. It begins with dark indie style riffs which if developed would sound good, but as soon as the vocals kick in they slide right down their own slippery throat. Reminiscent of The Others in vocals style, the lyrics aren't much better- "I was born on a slippery slope", not exactly a catchy chorus line. What really throws it all is the electronic beeps that mash up the end of the track.
"Stand Up Be Counted" is a better number but lacks a certain depth to it- it's the kind of song you wouldn't remember after it's finished despite the last dying note that resonates for all of three seconds.
