'Washout'- A Single You Can't Ignore
The band have woven a clever vocal movement through this number against a backdrop of spiked music that jabs at the brain. The depth of sound that is in 'Washout' comes from the fact that not only is this a six piece outfit but that they can sing and harmonise well.
There's in this single a sense of a more developed, mature sound. Yes, you could say Arcade Fire, yes you could say Sparks, but something niggles at the back of the mind that smacks of Kraftwerk.
Overall this is a sophisticated number that will certainly appeal to a lot of people but just how far the band can take this sound is hard to judge.
