Very 70's
Step back into the seventies and you will find yourselves immersed in this funk driven sound that Adam Kershaw produces. It Kicks off with 'Where's My Place' a dance/funk beat number with vocals very reminiscent of The Human League. But although the quality is high it is too contrived a sound to really inspire. Too many twiddley guitar twists do nothing for the overall flavour and unfortunately this remains just another pop pap dance track.
'Love Is Such A Hard Game' is a follow through and in spite of the screaming vocals it still sits in that dance/funk mode. However there is a slightly harder edge to this number that lifts it above 'Where's My Place'.
On the CD there is a bonus track not available on the 7 inch version. '160' is again a notch up from where this single began, but there is not sufficient difference in the sound to make this more than just another number to boogie to.
If this were the late 70's or early 80's there would be something to shout about, but all this has been done before and there is not enough individuality to say that something different is really happening.
