A brave debut

Opener 'Bleed' is clever in its use of layered sound and style of genres. There is Electro here mixed with an overall Metal mantra. It builds the emotion of the song with an insistence that pulls you through the different levels.'Strike The End' has that quality to the vocals that makes you feel as if something is being held back but you know it will escape at some point in the song and the inspired lyrics, like "I spent all my life breaking my fucking bones" give you something everyone can relate to.

'Listen' in comparison has an almost rock /blues undercurrent operating in the metal core. It also provides some soaring guitar work that acts like a mantel for the vocals. In 'Six Feet Under',don't let the key boards distract you- there is nothing soft about this track. 'Always The Same' is constructed in such a manner as to be irresistible and with a chant that will stick in your mind whether you like it or not. Along with that is has a head banging beat that will fill the mosh pit.

Unfortunatley 'Breath' doesn't quite make the cut as it fails to rise to the level of other tracks on this album, and the same can be said for 'Vanished Memories' where overkill features heavily and it's fucking depressing!

'Silent' will shock you -since when did dance/rave metal hit the scene like this?! There is no mistaking that 'boom boom in this song'. A very clever mix of electro and metal that is a brave thing to have in an album so overtly heavy in its other tracks.

'Nothing Else' unfortunately is one of those numbers that is really rather bland and suffers from being too familiar in formulae- a definite let down after 'Silent'. But 'Train To Leave' puts things back on track. Amidst excellent vocals there is a guitar lead thread that is insistent even when the keyboards try to take over.

Covergence have produced something a bit different in this album and have pushed the boundaries, in particular with 'Silent', retaining metallic soul in their music.
