First single from forthcoming album.

Several years on from the release of their debut album, Nine Black Alps return with their first sampler from their follow up. 'Burn Faster' is an upbeat song of the kind you expect to find playing at indie club nights or on MTV2. Whilst treading the well-worn territory of cliché in the lyrics with lines like the chorus "burn faster, cut deeper, hit harder, fall further". Musically however, the song fares much better. It begins with vocals reminiscent of Graham Coxon's punctuated accent and is easy to remember thanks to the somewhat simplistic lyrics. The guitar work is taut and defined and although the mould isn't being broken here the confines of the genre are being worked within rather nicely.

B-side 'In and Out of Reach' echoes Ash and is a slightly slower song whilst still managing to include accomplished guitars and a memorable chorus. This single in general serves to illustrate that Nine Black Alps have developed since their debut and become more skilled as musicians. Overall this offering promises good things for the forthcoming album, hopefully to be released later this year.
