Chuck Prophet - Would You Love Me?

Acoustic musicianship has paled over recent years, probably because of a combination of both the wave of advance made by electronic music, and the fact that acoustic music tends to slot into a very narrow bandwidth; that of melancholic songs about love. Chuck Prophet is sadly not one to buck this trend, with ‘Would You Love Me?’ fulfilling all the bandwidth requirements.
It is a perfectly decent song, melodically pretty good, with a wholesome sound. Chuck is something akin to Bryan Adams in delivery, if in nothing else. One of the minor failings of the song is the occasional strange lyric that leaves you thinking ‘eh?’ However, his dulcet bass is complimented by haunting choral wails from the background • an attractive touch.

‘Would You Love Me?’ is to all intents and purposes a decent track. The fact remains however, that it is not actually that interesting. We’ve heard this before.
