Born Ruffians • Red, Yellow and Blue

‘Red Yellow and Blue’ is the new release from the charming Canadian three-piece; Born Ruffians. It is short, sweet, and laid back.

The background of the track is formed by a simple whistled refrain, one broken guitar chord, a rattling snare and a gentle plinky keyboard riff. There is no chord progression, and only one verse, but therein lies the beauty. It is gentle, holds no disarming surprises and is generally just nice. The laid back halcyon feel is the stuff the summer calls for.

The lyrics focus on the tricky subject of choosing the colours for the singer’s own flag; a decision that is reached with the joy and grace of a cold beer at a hot festival. All in all then it is a chilled out masterpiece of taking it easy that is still gently rousing.
