Music Is Going To The Dogs

‘London Bridge’ is a song that will leave you twitching with its musical integration of poetry and sound. The beautiful lyrics- ‘When battered heads dissemble and descend into a mess upon the city/When bleeding hearts awake from single beds and paint themselves so very pretty’ are enhanced by the sheer tightness of the band as a whole and Johnny Cooke’s (vox.) voice that is so full of conviction, you can’t but help to offer your bleeding heart to them. Compared to ‘London Bridge’, ‘End Of An Era’ is more restrained and you can feel the anger and heartfelt sorrow trying desperately to rip through. From the guitar work of Rikki and Luciano held brilliantly by Duncan (bass) and Rich (drums) coupled with the rawness and honesty in Johnny’s voice means that this band will go far in 2005. With a sound that makes them hot contenders to take over what The Libertines (may, or may not) have left behind, if anyone deserves their crown it’s these Kings in waiting.
