Not quite the trouble they hoped for?

Well, they are back with another single. Their last outing with "Pork and Beans" was somewhat amusing but largely it was the video that made it. The second single off the so-called "Red Album" isn't really anything special at all really. I can't quite tell where Weezer are going really?

This song plods along with a monotonous voice and no real emotion from Rivers. It's typical of Weezer and their recent stuff really. It lacks the punch of songs like "Hash-Pipe" or even the cheese and variation of "Beverley Hills". Sure it's worded well and the lyrics have that classic Weezer theme with simple, amusing lines but overall, I'm left feeling that something was missing.

So far, the Red album isn't impressing me too much but although this track fails to impress, it does have the classic lines of a well produced and happy Weezer track. I think that's where Weezer is likely to stay really. Listening to this makes it hard to believe that this band was once responsible for the birth of Emo. Thinking along these lines, I suspect thats it. The harder, more varied edge seems to have been ironed out a little.

In the end, it's a mediocre, happy, generic Weezer track. Bring back "Buddy Holly" is what I say!
