Biography

Gary Lightbody - vocals, guitar
Mark McClelland - bass, keyboards
Johnny Quinn - drums
Nathan Connolly - guitar

Formed at Dundee University in 1994. Then known as Polar Bear, the boys didn't take long to gain popularity with their blend on 'British' rock and guitar pop. They hit problems straight away with their name though as ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery had started a band with thte same name and he was threatening a lawsuit. So when the first members Lightbody and McClelland signed to Scotland's Jeepster records the band renamed themselves Snow Patrol. Quinn joined at this point and the band decided to part with Jeepster and posted out their new demos to record companys. Polydor became interested and at the time of signing they also welcomed Connolly into the band. They released their album 'Final Straw' and it picked up immediate interest by Radio 1 who played their first single release 'Run' and the follow up 'Spitting Games' to death. read less
