T.Rex meets Scissor Sisters with this glittering summer hit
If you're looking for the next big band to emerge from 2005 then you could do a lot worse than put your money on El Presidente. 'Without You' is only the second commercial single to be released from their self-titled debut album (expected for release 8th August), but already the Scottish quintet have secured themselves a reputation for their blistering live performances, and earned the celebrity seal of approval from the likes of Noel Gallagher and Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon.
Opening with laid back rhythm guitar, 'Without You' saunters into its catchy verse before bursting into the brash, electrifying chorus, while the layered voices, keyboards and "woo ooh ooh" backing vocals combine to give this track all the ingredients for a glittering summer smash. All kinds of names have been banded around in an effort to describe the amazing mix of sounds that El Presidente bring together, from Led Zeppelin and AC/DC to T.Rex and even The Beach Boys, but 'Without You', with its catchy, simplistic boogie has the feel of Glam Rock era Marc Bolan jamming with Prince while the Scissor Sisters rock out in the background.
With songs like 'Without You' under their belt El Presidente are guaranteed to be one of the highlights at this years V Festival in August; an irresistible single that will no doubt rocket the band further into superstardom.
