Hazy summer pop, or, 'that song from the Adidas advert...'
You might not realise it, but 'Eanie Meany' has probably already trickled into you consciousness, since it was adopted by sportswear giant Adidas as the soundtrack to their largest ever ad campaign, which screened extensively during the run up to the world cup. Couple this with a UK tour and a slot at the legendary US Lollapallooza festival, and in many ways this could just be the making of singer songwriter Jim Noir.
The follow up to single 'My Patch' and taken from the album 'Tower of Love', Noir describes 'Eanie Meany' as his first attempt at writing what he regards to be a proper "pop song" and, like it or loathe it, there is a certain irresistible charm about this summery two-minute trip down memory lane. Simplicity is the key to this song; the simple lyrics and harmonies flutter around your brain like mischievous butterflies, while it's up tempo beats, irritatingly catchy hazy melody and swirling keys make it a perfect Radio Two-friendly pop song that will be hard to avoid this summer.
Fans of Noir will also be pleased to know that the single package will include two never-before-heard tracks, 'That's Not Her' and 'Ordinary Man'.
