Sung and hammered into your ears
Opening with 'Motorhead', a number so full of anthemic guitar work that literally pours down on you, some may be forgiven for thinking that the beat to this is gonna be one glorious bore but it's anything but. Vocally there's a resonance of the deeper tones of Ian Gillen- a name synonymous with the British rock scene, but in 'Airborne' they morph into Robert Plant.
'Panzer', well...the title says it all. If you've ever heard King Crimson's '20th Century Schizoid Man' then you'll connect with this number. 'Old Movies' on the other hand has a subtlety built around brilliant guitars/keyboards that's held by drumming so disciplined it hurts!
'The Consultancy' builds into a crescendo of sound with the Sabbath and Zeppelin written through it like a stick of rock, and 'UFO's' is one of those numbers that sneaks up on you and before deciding whether you like it or not, you find yourself stuck in the middle; great effects achieved by the contrast of lyrics and uplifting music.
The bonus EP sees 'Boomtime', 'Half Life', 'Throwaway' and 'Glory Electricity' thrown at you; hard and heavy rock as it was meant to be played- only here it's both sung and hammered into your ears.
