The Little Flames set music alight

Remember the days of the female fronted indie bands, Echobelly, Elastica, Sleeper... well instead of reminiscing and wondering what happened to them all, listen to the future sound of lady rock, The Little Flames.

Since forming in 2004, the band are still to cause more than a spark of interest in the charts after three singles, but their fourth offering, 'Isobella', should be the one to warm indie lovers hearts following in the footsteps of fellow Liverpudlians, and label-mates, The Coral and The Zutons. However, this single does not cash in on that cheeky scouse charm, taking a more mature and serious tone with the sophisticated vocals of Eva Petersen backed up by a simple melancholy riff and driving guitars.

Eva's vocals have the superiority and aloofness of a young Debbie Harry, and she does a sterling job of harnessing the testosterone fuelled guitar rock and making it her own. Admittedly 'Isobella' isn't going to knock you out with it's musical genius, but it shows that this young band have got a lot more up there sleeve with an album due in June and a UK tour supporting the Arctic Monkeys in April.
