A Sound That Sticks

‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’ is full of the sound that is The Libertines- energy, enthusiasm and in your face music. The sound they have here is fresh and boy do they flaunt it! With a teaser of an intro they lead you through lyrics and a stripped to the bone demo of how this music should be.

‘Death On The Stairs’ is a fiery sound which, at first, seems to be dominated by the vocals but is very strong on the guitar work when you really listen. Gary’s superb drumming shines through here.

‘Tell The King’ relies on Gary’s rhythmic pounding and he does it brilliantly. This is one of The Libertines most poetic numbers and they show that they are able to adapt, both themselves and the way they communicate, through differing styles.
