Nothing to be excited by

It’s a bit of a disappointment that Black Winter Day 2005 was filled predominantly by mediocre, nondescript power-metal. Cruel Humanity don’t exactly offer any respite: their formula of fast-paced, aggressive tracks, combined with a completely unimaginative stage presence, don’t do them any favours.

The result of this is that their obvious talent is kind of beside the point. Yes, the keyboard makes for a little variety. Sure, they can play their instruments, but what’s the point if you’re not going to do so with any imagination or creativity?

It would be unfair to label Cruel Humanity as ‘bad’ – they’re clearly not. But, at the end of a long day, running almost two hours behind schedule, it’s simply nothing to be excited by. Unless you’re Hat, who has already gasped in disgust at my opinions. Ah well.
