Scissor Sisters started out as just Babydaddy and Jake Shears when they performed together in a club on the Lower East Side in New York in 2001. Also starring at this club was Ana Matronic a performance artist who also joined the band. Del and Paddy then joined up and Scissor Sisters were ready to make their mark on the world.
Influences of David Bowie, Elton John and Roxy Music are clear in their pop disco tunes. In January of 2004 they started getting noticed, especially in the UK. Their rework of Pink Floyds comfortably numb hit the charts along with their self titled album and the band toured Britain then headed back over to the States for the South by Southwest festival only to return back to the UK to tour with Duran Duran with the release of their single 'Take Your Mama Out'. Touring didn't stop there as they returned to the States for a tour in May then back again to the UK for various festivals during the summer. The year ended with Jake and Bigdaddy writing the hit 'I Believe In You' for Kylie.
